Welcome back our Senior Producer – Issy Wakley

We enjoyed a cuppa and a chat to welcome back Issy Wakley from her maternity leave. We talked all things UNIT – from the excitement of creative collaboration to the joy of reuniting with colleagues post maternity leave.

1. What inspires you and drives you in your role as Producer?

Bringing together a collaborative team, watching ideas bounce between creatives like magical energy to create something special and seeing that come to life.

2. How does it feel to return to the UNIT production team after your maternity leave?

Like a big hug!  It’s been so nice to catch up with everyone, great to challenge my mind in a different way to motherhood as well.  Lunch in the office and hot coffee is also a real delight.

3. What first inspired you to get into this career?

After a short stint at Smoke & Mirrors as a teen for work experience, I knew this industry was for me. I went off to Chelsea to study fine art but found myself back into post running at 19, I loved the buzz, quirky characters and techy intricacies there were to learn, I was hooked.

4. What kind of creative work do you admire most?

The kind that challenges everyone to collaborate and problem solve together, a multi faceted project with lots of moving parts. Food porn, one thing about me: I love supermarkets.

5. What are you watching / reading / listening to right now?

Reading: The Thursday Murder Club.
Well, when i’m not watching Bluey & Miss Rachel, Vintage RHOC, everyone needs a bit of (warped) reality.  Always re-watching Homeland,The Handmaid’s Tale & The Walking Dead. I start this over every few months and love seeing how the blood spatter has come on over the years.
